Background:

Yesterday, at around 4PM, the whole of the State of South Australia lost power as the electricity grid failed totally. That is an area of around one and a half times the size of the State of Texas. However, because Australia is sparsely populated, the total population is only 1.8 Million people, most of them in and around the State Capital Adelaide. The power went off instantaneously, and did not begin coming back until around 3AM in some areas, and by first light this morning still only parts of the State had power back on. South Australia prides itself on being the State with the most renewable power in Australia, and 40% of the State’s power consumption comes from nearly all of it Wind Power, the largest wind power coverage in Australia.
