Listening to Joe Bastardi’s Weekly summary at WeatherBell this morning, his assessment was that the current weak La Niña would become an El Niño in the tropical Pacific by summer.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Brian Ochs:
“if you have warmer sea surface temperatures over a larger area of the tropical Pacific you’ll have more of a moisture source to tap into. Usually, during our active seasons where we get a lot of precipitation, we get these atmospheric rivers that will set up.”
